Jane's Trunk

I'm gearing up for a show in October that I am very excited about.  3 Hens Vintage Goods Sale is holding their debut event Octover 6th, and Apple House Revival will be there!  I've been painting and picking like a mad woman.  I hope to see you there!

Now, onto this cheery yet sturdy trunk I picked up last week.

She is constructed of plywood and had been serviceable in  a very utilitarian way.  I was thinking she would have made an excellent tack box.

However, it was time for her to move out of the barn and into the farmhouse!  A coat of cheery yellow was just the thing she needed!

A coat of dark wax and a good buffing made her gleam.

Isn't that rounded top charming, and it holds a surprise inside, a little cubby perfect for keeping track of dog leashes or flip flops!

I debated about if I should paint the inside or not, but eventually decided to just give it a good scrubbing, rubbed her down with vinegar, and laid down some pretty liner in the bottom.  I like that you can see the scrapes and scruffs she accumulated through her years of service.

She is ready to make her way home.
