Happy Valentines Day!

It seems like a perfect day to introduce you to a particular dresser who is pretty sweet.

This is Beau.

Isn't he charming!

He has a handsome stained top.

Look at that amazing grain detail!

His white drawers remind me of a man in a white dress shirt, unbuttoned at the collar.  The blue, a nicely tailored suit. 

Maybe some bronze cuff links. . . I love it when men wear cuff links!

And just the right amount of distressing, kind of like a five o'clock shadow.  Like the young man dropping by to say hello after work.

Tools of the trade, with a little fun thrown in.   I'm sure he would have a mischievous smile.

Julie's Desk

My cousin, Julie, has recently taken the exciting step of becoming her own boss! If you live in the Portland area and need someone to talk to, I would highly recommend Five Seeds Counseling.

Julie wanted her office to be comfortable and home like.  She asked for my help.  The first thing she needed was a desk.  She brought me this darling.  Someone had done a hack job of trying to restore her.
 

After some love and attention, you can see that she is a new girl.

Inside.

The colors in Julie's office are a pale sage green, various creams, and this beautiful plum color.  Isn't it fantastic?  And isn't that hardware amazing?  It isn't the original hardware.  At least the person who tried to refinish her first gave her some pretty jewelry. 

The body is a creamy white with a pale wheat color glaze.

Some strategic distressing, a coat of dark wax, both inside and out, and she is now the most charming secretary in the building! 

The next time I am at Julie's office I will take my camera and show you the rest of her office.  It is a beautiful room.

Sweet Green Desk

I've had several comments on the sweet green desk in this photo.

Well, now that you have seen her all dressed up would you care to take a better look at her?

First how about a 'BEFORE' picture.  I will pause for a collective gasp.  Yes, I actually remembered to take a few before shots.  I knew this was one that was not to be missed.

Isn't she sad looking?  Someone had beat her up to within and an inch of survival.  There were even latches installed on the bottom drawers to allow a lock to be put on them.  But this girl was well built and a survivor.  Nothing that a screwdriver, some wood putty, and a date with the sander couldn't fix.

If the general beating weren't insult enough, someone had also spray painted her this bright green.  It's not a horrible color, but it was a horrible paint job.  I was happy for the chance to save her!

She is a lovely green color.  Almost exactly the color of the sour summer apples I picked earlier today!

I glazed her is a soft buttery yellow.

The hardware was repainted the same soft yellow.

I gave her a light distressing around the edges, a little heavier on the drawers and a good coat of dark wax.

Now she's ready for her new home!  I can see her in a blogger's office with a laptop and some pretty decoration for added inspiration!

She is for sale for $180.  I can arrange delivery almost anywhere in WA state, parts of ID and OR.  Otherwise the buyer pays shipping costs.
